Pakistan's humanitarian issues are driven by natural disasters, conflict, and displacement.
Frequent shocking natural disasters, namely floods from monsoons and earthquakes, have displaced thousands of people in Pakistan and has destroyed infrastructure. Conflict and violence in certain regions have further exacerbated displacement and humanitarian needs.
Many people lack access to basic services in the country, such as healthcare, education, and clean water, leading to widespread suffering. It is important to mention that Pakistan is also prone to other recurring natural disasters, such as droughts and heatwaves, which have affected millions of people and caused significant damage to infrastructure.
Diseases including dengue and measles are reported in the tens of thousands annually. Additionally, all four provinces of Pakistan suffer from cholera outbreaks.
PepsiCo, in collaboration with the PepsiCo Foundation, has scaled up its ‘Millions of Meals’ flood relief program in Pakistan, partnering with local organizations to distribute 5 million meals in the worst-hit areas and launching a global employee matching gift program that doubles employee donations and provides a 2:1 match to enhance food security efforts.
