Palestine is enduring a severe humanitarian crisis due to ongoing conflict, famine, breakdown of medical services, large-scale displacement, and extensive infrastructure destruction.
The humanitarian crisis in Palestine has significantly worsened following the breakdown of the ceasefire on March 18, 2025. Extensive airstrikes were launched across the Gaza Strip, resulting in Palestinian deaths, including many women and children.
The recent airstrikes have exacerbated an already dire situation, with the death toll surpassing 55,000 Palestinians since October 2023. The ongoing conflict has led to the displacement of millions, with 92% of homes damaged or destroyed, leaving 1.8 million people in need of emergency shelter.
The destruction has generated approximately 50 million tons of debris, with reconstruction efforts estimated to take over 20 years. Essential facilities, including schools, hospitals, and government buildings, have been severely affected, hindering access to basic services.
In the West Bank, military operations have displaced 40,000 Palestinians, marking the largest such displacement since 1967. Entire neighborhoods, particularly in Jenin, have been reduced to rubble. Restrictions on movement continue to impede healthcare access, with roadblocks delaying emergency medical services.
Recent winter and spring storms have further deepened the crisis, damaging 110,000 of the 135,000 displacement tents and affecting half a million people in flood-prone areas.
Aid delivery remains heavily restricted, exacerbating shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. There are witnessed direct attacks on civilians in aid queues. Hospitals are overwhelmed, struggling to treat the increasing number of casualties amid limited resources. The situation in Palestine remains critical, with millions suffering from ongoing conflict, displacement, and economic devastation.
Google allocated $4 million to support early-stage startups and small businesses in Palestine amidst conflict, aiming to preserve 4,500 jobs and foster new employment opportunities. This effort includes loans and grants for 1000 small businesses for operational costs, seed grants for 50 tech startups, humanitarian aid via partnerships with organizations like UNICEF and Save the Children, and the launch of the Palestine Launchpad program to bolster local talent and employment through training and mentorship, benefiting 400 graduates across Palestinian territories.
