Chad is facing a deepening humanitarian crisis fueled by conflict, mass displacement, food insecurity, and health emergencies, leaving millions in urgent need of support.
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has led to a significant influx of refugees and returnees to Chad, with an estimated 910,000 arrivals expected by the end of 2024, further straining limited resources.
Widespread food insecurity affects millions of people in Chad, and malnutrition is rampant, particularly among children. Health emergencies, including hepatitis E and measles outbreaks, highlight critical gaps in healthcare infrastructure. Climate change intensifies these challenges, threatening the livelihoods of 80% of the population dependent on rain-fed agriculture.
Immediate needs include access to food, water, shelter, healthcare, psychosocial support, and increased international funding to support Chad’s response to the growing crisis.
Flexport’s work with giving aid in hard-to-reach locations includes giving 900 families in Chad emergency kits containing water purifiers, a solar light, and hygiene items.
